Our family foundation reached out to our extended networks, communities, and family members to join in our COVID-related response efforts. In addition to our own investment of $100,000, we raised $23,240 from our broader community of 110 donors. This campaign kicked off on Giving Tuesday NOW (May 5, 2020) and lasted until the following Tuesday, May 12th. We were deeply encouraged by the possibility to maximize our collective funds to go towards six exceptional, pre-vetted organizations serving D.C. area children/teens and their families during the COVID crisis. Four of these organizations were former grantees of our foundation, and two organizations have come highly recommended through other foundations/grantmakers as part of our response effort. The six grantee organizations receiving these funds are: Life Pieces to Masterpieces ; Jubilee Jumpstart ; Safe Shores; Generation Hope; Dreaming Out Loud ; and Mother of Light Center.
